Tampa commuters were stuck in traffic for several hours while emergency workers and first responders cleared the debris from an early morning accident on the I-75. The accident involved several vehicles and unfortunately resulted in at least one fatality as a driver who was standing outside his truck, which was stopped on the side of the road.
The accident was the result of several factors and involved several impacts and vehicles. It was a perfect storm that led to the loss of a life and serious injuries, and the injured survivors were sent to a hospital while emergency personnel worked to clear the wreckage.
The first crash was caused when an SUV lost control and hit a flatbed truck. The truck and SUV continued down the I-75, hitting a sedan and another SUV. This pileup continued moving before the two SUVs spun into the median and came to a stop. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the sedan and truck slid along the shoulder before hitting two vehicles that were stopped on the side of the road. These vehicles had been transporting mobile homes.
This accident is another in a long list of examples of how serious and severe a car crash can be. They aren’t always fender-benders or simple two car accidents. Sometimes, car crashes involve several vehicles and can end in tragedy – whether it’s death, severe injury, or both.
